Team USA picked up a crucial doubles victory as Shane Van Boening and Skyler Woodward put on a classy display in a 5-0 whitewash of Joshua Filler and Jayson Shaw.

Having won three straight points on day three of the Mosconi Cup, Team Europe moved 7-5 ahead in the race to 11. 

However, the visitors' hot run came to a crushing end as Van Boening and Woodward put on a clinic against the team of Filler and Shaw.

The opening rack set the tone for the remainder of the match as Filler failed to pot a tricky one ball, allowing Woodward to pounce.

The American used the one to swerve the cue ball into the nine which was already teetering on the edge of the middle pocket. The crowd erupted as USA took an immediate lead.

The hosts then had to navigate a tricky layout to make it 2-0, but their quality really came to light in the third rack.

As Shaw failed to convert a three-ball combination, SVB and Woodward made no mistake in clearing the table to punish the Scotsman.

The American duo continued their dominance into the fourth rack to get on the hill.

Eventually, Europe got on the table and potted the first two balls in the fifth rack. Filler had an opportunity to continue the run,

but the German failed to pot the three-ball into the corner pocket which handed the initiative back to the hosts.

SVB and Woodward were in hot form and they cleared the table to the delight of the Las Vegas crowd.
The victory for Team USA cut Europe's lead to 7-6 in the race to 11.

When asked if he was under pressure, Van Boening told Sky Sports: "I didn't really feel much pressure at all."
Woodward added:

"There's no pressure playing with arguably the best player ever. Just make your ball and Shane will get the job done."

The 29-year-old also praised the capacity crowd, saying: "I believe this is the best atmosphere we've ever had. Definitely a sixth man for us.

If not for this crowd I wouldn't want to be here. I want to play.
"I love the crowd, getting them involved. Trying to get my job done to get the crowd involved."
